WM. T. McCoy Post #92

Boy Scouts of America has been supported by The American Legion since  the Legion’s first national convention in 1919.

Today, Legion posts sponsor more than 2,500 Scouting units across the country.  These Legion posts are the largest group of community based supporters of Scouting in the United States.  This is natural for Legionnaires, who bring their service, learned skills, and experiences as veterans to help build character and positive traits in our country’s youth. Few other post activities generate more goodwill from the community.

Additionally the Legion annually honors the Eagle Scout of the Year at the National Convention. The winner of the competition receives a $10,000 scholarship, and the three runners-up are each awarded $2,500 scholarships.

Wm. T. McCoy Post 92 charters (sponsors) three scouting units in Rochester.  Cub Scout Pack 186, meeting at Riverside school; Boy Scout Troop 186, meeting as scheduled; and Boy Scout Troop 98.  Troop 98 had met historically at Elton Hills elementary school, but now meets at the Post 92 club.
